Step 1: Prepare the Scale 

Familiarize yourself with its curved measurement edge and the charting table on the reverse side.  

Step 2: Measure Mouth Opening  

• Align the edge-notch of the Jaw Pith with the lower incisor. 
• Instruct the patient to open their mouth.  
• Read the measurement at the point where the upper incisal edge aligns on the scale. 

Step 3: Assess Protrusive Movement  

• With the patient’s teeth slightly apart, have them move their lower jaw forward as far as possible.  
• Align the scale to measure the distance of protrusion from the initial position. Evaluate Lateral Excursions  
• Ask the patient to move their lower jaw to the right side.  
• Measure the distance of movement using the lateral scale.  
• Repeat the process for the left side to assess left lateral movement. 

Step 4: Record Measurements 

• Utilize the charting table on the back of the scale to document the measurements. This facilitates tracking changes over time, aiding in treatment planning and monitoring progress.
